Finsbury Trust is pleased to announce the launch of a new Art Competition in partnership with Bayside Comprehensive School, aimed at supporting and celebrating the creative talents of young people within our local community. This initiative forms part of our ongoing commitment to promote education, cultural development, and opportunities for young individuals in Gibraltar.

We believe that the arts play a vital role in nurturing imagination, confidence, and expression, and that young artists should be encouraged and given platforms to grow. By working closely with Bayside Comprehensive School, we are delighted to offer students the chance to showcase their talent in a public setting and receive recognition for their artistic achievements.

This pilot competition will be open exclusively to Bayside students from Year 7 through Year 13 (ages 11 to 18). Students are invited to submit one piece of non-examination artwork of their choice, in any medium, encouraging a broad display of style and creativity.

  • Competition Launch Date: Thursday 6th November
  • Submission Deadline: Thursday 27th December
  • Prize Giving Ceremony: Tuesday 16th December
  • Initial Exhibition Location: Bayside Podium Art Gallery

Our judging panel, provided by Finsbury Trust, will review all entries on-site. The winning artworks will be selected based on creativity, expression, technique and overall impact.

Prize Sponsorship

Finsbury Trust is sponsoring a total of £1,000 in prizes.

In addition to the prize awards, the four winning entries will be acquired by Finsbury Trust to be displayed proudly at Finsbury House. We hope this will offer promising young artists a unique opportunity to have their work seen in a professional environment, helping to foster their artistic confidence and aspirations.

Celebrating Achievement

To recognise and celebrate the students’ efforts, two presentation events will be held:

  • School Exhibition & Announcement of Winners:
Tuesday 16th December 2025 at 18:30, Bayside Comprehensive School
  • Finsbury House Presentation (January 2026):
A special reception will be held where the four winning artists, alongside their parents, Finsbury staff and guests, will be invited to view the artworks displayed and celebrate the students’ accomplishments.

Supporting the Next Generation

We are truly excited to support this initiative and to play a small part in encouraging the next generation of artists in Gibraltar. Our hope is that this competition not only inspires creativity, but also strengthens the relationship between the business community and our local schools in a way that contributes positively to cultural and educational growth.

We look forward to seeing the creativity, passion, and imagination that Bayside’s students bring to this competition — and we wish every participant the very best of luck.
