The annual Gibraltar Day in London Funds and Fintech breakfast, held at the RAC Club in Pall Mall, London was hosted by Albert Isola, Minister for Commerce HM Government of Gibraltar on Tuesday 23rd October 2017.
Albert Isola addressed guests and provided an insightful talk on the developments over the last 12 months in both the funds and fintech sectors of the Gibraltar economy. The publication of the highly innovative distributed ledger technology (DLT) regulatory framework was prominent in his comments.
Also addressing the audience was Jay Gomez a senior associate with Gibraltar law firm Triay and Triay. Jay specialises in Corporate and Commercial Financial Services with emphasis on the funds industry. He is also active with the Gibraltar Funds and Investment Association (GFIA) and provided an update on recent developments and the future direction of travel for the funds industry in Gibraltar.
Also providing an update of the fintech sector was Nicholas Gomez, Head of Risk and Innovation at the Gibraltar Financial Services Commission. A detailed review of the recently published regulatory framework for DLT firms was provided to guests.
